Flexor™ Polymer Modified Asphalt
Raw asphalt needs be altered to be usable in roofing materials. Traditional methods to alter asphalt diminish its natural rubber-like characteristics. To avoid this, Malarkey manufactured a specially formulated blend of polymers and raw asphalt to produce the Flexor™ polymer-modified asphalt. It retains the rubber-like characteristics of raw asphalt, while boasting improved flexibility, granule adhesion, cold weather installation and impact resistance. The Nexgen™ blend of Flexor™ utilizes post-consumer recycled polymers, which is done to promote sustainability.
Scotchgard™ Protector
Algae can grow and pester your roof with unsightly black stains that can ruin the appearance of your roof. The Scotchgard™ Protector utilizes 3M™ copper-containing granules that act as a shield against algae.
The Zone®
A roof that isn’t installed correctly can lead to a voided warranty, along with the increased likelihood of leaks and blow-offs. Improper fastener placement is a top concern at Malarkey, so they manufactured The Zone® – a patented 1 ¾” nailing area that is 3x larger than other laminated shingles, and is proven to dramatically improve fastener placement.

The asphalt acts as a double-fortified rain sealant that waterproofs the roof, preventing moisture from invading the interior of the home.
Solar Reflecting Shingles
When sunlight hits a traditional shingle, heat is absorbed, which causes a temperature spike in the interior of the home. This causes cooling units to work harder in the summer months, raising your electricity bill in the process. Malarkey Roofing Products offers optional solar reflecting shingles that are rated by Energy Star. Instead of your roof absorbing the heat and transferring it to your home’s interior, the sunlight will reflect off the shingle. This reduces the amount of heat that enters your home, while extending the life of your roof.
